‘Foundations’ selected as a finalist for the Aurealis Awards

My story, ‘Foundations’, has been selected as a finalist for the Aurealis Award for best Australian horror novella of 2020. This story, my first professional publication, has given me a lot of joy over the last eighteen months, and I’m pleased the judges liked it.

This is the third time I’ve had a story named as a finalist in the Aurealis Awards. Part of me still thinks the first two back in 2018 might have been a mistake or a fluke, so picking this up was amazing. No one writes for awards, but I’ll be honest, it’s a hell of a nice confidence boost to realise a few people out there think you’re doing something decent.

The full list of finalists is here.

A nice start to 2021

My latest short story, ‘For Sale’, was published in the first Aurealis Magazine for 2021.

I’m really pleased to be back in Aurealis. It’s one of the magazines I regularly read and enjoy, and they consistently have great fiction. If you’re keen to give it a read, the magazine is available to buy here.

My latest short story is available at Metaphorosis Magazine

My latest short story, ‘All That Remains’, is available to read or to listen to for free at Metaphorosis Magazine. This is the first time that one of my stories has been made available as a podcast. I’ve got to admit, hearing someone read my words is a real buzz.

This is also the fourth time I’ve had a story appear in Metaphorosis, which I’m proud of. I think it’s a great magazine. I’ve appreciated the advice and editing suggestions that the editor, Morris B Allen, has provided along the way.
